Players command one of the last bastions of humanity (the titular Phoenix Point), taking care of its development, security and resources, as well as military operations. This does not mean, however, that the developers used only the mechanical solutions of the predecessors. Phoenix Point draws heavily from the original X-COM as well as its modernized versions (XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2).
